Jan Voerman jr zijn verstilde composities

Jan Voerman jr. vond zijn onderwerpen in de alledaagse omgeving. Met een aandachtige en nauwgezette observatie wist hij ogenschijnlijk eenvoudige motieven te transformeren tot verstilde composities. Hij verwierf een geheel eigen beeldtaal, herkenbaar aan zijn ingetogen kleurgebruik, uitgebalanceerde composities en gestileerde weergave van de werkelijkheid.

Leopold Müller en het Oriëntalisme

Small in size, but big in presence. This powerful portrait of an African boy is beautifully painted. The contrast between the white turban and dark skin gives the piece a certain tension. The boy doesn’t look at us, but his gaze is serene and confident.

Erik Andriesse - An ambitious artist

Erik Andriesse (1957–1993) was an ambitious and virtuoso artist. Headstrong as he was, he paid little attention to trends and followed his own fascinations and belief in the power of painting. Andriesse opted for figuration and direct observation, with nature at the core of his work. 

Jo Koster van Hattem - Neo-impressionism

The work of Jo Koster was strongly influenced by both Vincent van Gogh and the art educator H.P. Bremmer. She is often counted among the so-called 'Bremmerians,' a group of artists who worked under the influence of Bremmer's ideas.Between 1910 and the early 1924, Jo Koster lived and worked in Hattem. This period marked an important flourishing phase in her artistry, during which she created a large part of her most characteristic work.

Mommie Schwarz - Luminism

In 1909, Mommie Schwarz came into contact with artist Else Berg in Berlin. Their meeting marked the beginning of a close personal and artistic relationship. Schwarz and Berg traveled to Paris together, which at the time was the center of the avant-garde. There they encountered innovative movements such as Fauvism and early Cubism.The artistic bond between Schwarz and Berg, who married in 1920, was exceptionally strong. Their paintings often show significant stylistic similarities, making it sometimes difficult to attribute a work to one of them. This reflects their joint search for innovation in painting.

Dirk Smorenberg - Krachtige stilering

Dirk Smorenberg wordt beschouwd als een van de weinige Nederlandse schilders binnen de art-decostijl. Zijn meest succesvolle periode ligt tussen circa 1910 en 1919, waarin hij volop experimenteerde met uiteenlopende stijlen. Rond 1914 reisde Smorenberg naar St. Ives, waar hij dit bijzondere werk schilderde. Het schilderij valt op door de krachtige stilering en het karakteristieke kleurgebruik, waarbij vooral zijn voorkeur voor specifieke blauwe en groene tinten kenmerkend is.
