About Johannes Hilverdink

Johannes Hilverdink (Groningen 1813-Amsterdam 1902) was student to J.A. Daiwaille as well as to the Royal Academy, then under supervision of J.W. Pieneman. After he finished his education, he undertook several study-trips abroad, e.g. to Germany, Great Britain and France. Johannes Hilverdink specialized in painting land and seascapes. He was a well-respected member of the artistic society Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam. He taught his sons E.A. Hilverdink and J.J.A. Hilverdink. His works can be found in many collections, e.g. at the Museum Fodor in Amsterdam, Boymans van Beuningen in Rotterdam and others.
