Jan Bogaerts was a pupil at the Academy in Den Bosch and then studied at the Royal Academy in Antwerp until 1903. He was trained in the traditions of Symbolism and Neo-Romanticism of the 19th century and therefore attached great importance to the expression of material and light. .
