About Henri Thomas

Henri Thomas (1878-1972) was born in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek in Belgium and was a versatile artist. Henri Thomas was an excellent painter, but was also a skilled etcher, illustrator and sculptor. He was educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. Henri Thomas was a member of the artists' association Le Sillon in Brussels, a group of young artists who strived for a realistic way of painting. By participating in the annual exhibitions of Le Sillon, Henri Thomas became better known to the general public. Later he would also exhibit several times at the annual Salon exhibitions of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Henri Thomas preferred to paint sophisticated women, elegant girls and provocative nudes in nightlife and brothels. Paintings by Henri Thomas can be found in museums in Brussels and Liège. At the moment we do not have any work by Henri Thomas in our collection.
