Jan Altink was one of the most prominent painters of the Groninger Ploeg. His painting focused mainly on landscapes and townscapes, as well as portraits and still lives. Up until 1924, he worked in a very light colorite. This transitioned into a much stronger and bolder use of colour in his later works. Among others, the Groninger Museum and the Haags Gemeentemuseum, have works by Jan Altink in their collections.
